Spanish River Sharks Promote Mental Health Awareness With Student-Led Initiative
A huge shoutout to Sofia Scher and the Spanish River Sharks Chapter of STUDENTS Speak Up for Kids for making a meaningful impact in honor of Suicide Prevention Month.
In collaboration with the Pumping Up Awareness school club, Sofia and her team created Mental Health Awareness Kits to support and encourage their peers. With approximately 40 students participating, the event emphasized the importance of mental well-being, peer support, and open conversations about mental health.
These thoughtfully assembled kits served as a reminder that no one is alone, providing students with resources and positive messages to help navigate challenges and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health discussions.
Why This Matters
Suicide Prevention Month is a time to recognize the power of awareness, support, and connection. The Spanish River Sharks have demonstrated that even small gestures—like assembling mental health kits—can have a big impact on someone’s life. By taking action, spreading awareness, and supporting one another, they are making their school community a safer, more compassionate space for everyone.
Thank you Spanish River Sharks!
