Spanish River Sharks Make Thanksgiving Sweeter!

Spanish River Sharks Bring Thanksgiving Cheer with Goodie Bags

The Spanish River Sharks Chapter of STUDENTS Speak Up for Kids, led by Sofia Scher, made the Thanksgiving season brighter for children in need through a creative and heartwarming initiative.

To spread holiday kindness, the chapter encouraged students to donate leftover Halloween candy, which was then used—along with additional treats—to assemble Thanksgiving goodie bags. Each bag was hand-decorated like a turkey, adding a personal and festive touch.

This youth-led community service project not only provided holiday treats but also highlighted the power of student leadership, generosity, and creativity. By working together, Sofia and her team demonstrated how small acts of kindness can make a lasting impact on children in need.

Why This Matters

The STUDENTS Speak Up for Kids program empowers youth to create positive change in their communities. Initiatives like these help foster children feel seen, valued, and included—especially during the holiday season, when small gestures can mean the most.
