Spreading the Joy of Reading: Nathalie Oquendo’s Book Donation Drive
Nathalie Oquendo, along with six dedicated students, organized a book donation drive to bring the joy of reading to children in need. Their efforts resulted in the collection of one large box full of books and ten rolls of wrapping paper, ensuring that each donated book could be given as a special, gift-wrapped surprise.
This thoughtful initiative not only provided children with new reading materials but also made the experience of receiving a book extra special. The donation drive aimed to encourage a love for storytelling and learning, giving kids access to books that can inspire, educate, and entertain.
Why This Matters
Access to books plays a crucial role in a child’s development, helping to improve literacy, expand imagination, and foster a lifelong love of learning. Many children, especially those in foster care or underserved communities, may not have access to their own books at home. By organizing this book donation drive, Nathalie and the participating students helped make reading more accessible while also adding a personal and thoughtful touch with the wrapped books.
