Oxbridge Students Lead Child Abuse Prevention Week: Engaging 450 Teachers and Students in Advocacy and Awareness

Ethan Miller from the Oxbridge Thunderwolves Chapter of STUDENTS Speak Up for Kids facilitated a Child Abuse Prevention Week that reached 450 teachers and students! On Monday the chapter hosted a table at the cafeteria to share create awareness among the students at Oxbridge Academy. On Tuesday they planted a pinwheel garden to symbolize and draw attention to the critical need to break the cycle of abandonment, neglect and abuse. Wednesday they hosted a presentation, on “What is Child Abuse and Neglect" to share the types, symptoms, treatment and diagnosis. The chapter was given time on the announcements on Thursday to read facts about Child Abuse Prevention to the whole student body. On Friday, the chapter rallied the school and encouraged everyone to wear blue in honor of preventing child abuse! The advocacy and awareness chapter is creating is making a difference!
