A Gift of Self-Care: Akayla Peart Assembles Wellness Bags for Teens

Akayla Peart, along with volunteers Karmiah S. and Arianna O., took a thoughtful approach to supporting teen mental health by creating teen self-care bags designed to uplift and encourage well-being.

Each tote bag was thoughtfully filled with self-care essentials designed to encourage teens to take time for themselves, unwind, and focus on their well-being. The bags included toiletries, body care products, a journal, a self-care book, stickers, and a few pieces of candy, offering a mix of relaxation, mindfulness, and small joys to brighten a student’s day.

Why This Matters

Mental health and self-care are essential, but many teens don’t always have access to the resources that can help them cope with stress and everyday challenges. By creating these self-care bags, Akayla and her team provided students with tools to practice self-love, reflection, and emotional well-being. A simple act of kindness like this can remind a teen that they are supported and not alone.

How You Can Help

At STUDENTS Speak Up for Kids, we believe that small gestures can have a big impact on mental well-being. Here’s how you can contribute:

  • Donate self-care items like journals, skincare products, and books for similar initiatives.

  • Assemble and distribute self-care kits to support students in your community.

  • Join or start a chapter to lead mental wellness projects that uplift and support teens.

Thank you to Akayla Peart, Karmiah S., and Arianna O. for making a difference in the lives of teens by promoting self-care and wellness.

Share this story to inspire others to spread kindness and support mental well-being in their communities.
