How to Clean a Bathroom

Materials Needed:

  • Rubber gloves

  • All-purpose cleaner

  • Glass cleaner

  • Toilet bowl cleaner

  • Disinfectant wipes or spray

  • Sponge or scrub brush

  • Microfiber cloths

  • Mop and bucket

  • Trash bags

  • Baking soda and vinegar (optional)

Steps:

  1. Preparation:

    • Put on rubber gloves to protect your hands from chemicals.

    • Remove all items from the countertops, shower, and bathtub. This includes toiletries, towels, and rugs.

    • Empty the trash can and replace the bag.

  2. Dusting and Sweeping:

    • Dust light fixtures, vents, and any other surfaces.

    • Sweep the floor to remove dust and hair.

  3. Cleaning the Shower and Bathtub:

    • Spray the shower walls, doors, and tub with an all-purpose cleaner.

    • Let the cleaner sit for a few minutes to break down soap scum and grime.

    • Scrub the surfaces with a sponge or scrub brush, paying attention to grout lines.

    • Rinse thoroughly with warm water.

    • For tough stains, sprinkle baking soda on the area and spray with vinegar. Let it fizz, then scrub and rinse.

  4. Cleaning the Toilet:

    • Apply toilet bowl cleaner inside the bowl and let it sit.

    • Spray the outside of the toilet with an all-purpose cleaner.

    • Wipe down the outside of the toilet with disinfectant wipes or a cloth soaked in disinfectant spray.

    • Scrub the inside of the bowl with a toilet brush and flush.

  5. Cleaning the Sink and Countertop:

    • Spray the sink and countertop with an all-purpose cleaner.

    • Scrub the sink, faucet, and countertop with a sponge.

    • Rinse and dry with a microfiber cloth.

    • For stubborn stains, use a paste made of baking soda and water.

  6. Cleaning Mirrors and Glass:

    • Spray mirrors and any glass surfaces with a glass cleaner.

    • Wipe with a microfiber cloth in a circular motion to avoid streaks.

  7. Cleaning the Floor:

    • Mop the floor with a solution of warm water and a floor cleaner.

    • Pay attention to corners and edges where dirt can accumulate.

  8. Final Touches:

    • Replace items on countertops, ensuring they are clean.

    • Put out fresh towels and rugs.

    • Take out the trash and replace the bag.

  • Regular cleaning helps prevent buildup and makes deep cleaning easier.

  • Use a toothbrush to clean hard-to-reach areas like around faucets and drain covers.

  • Open a window or use the bathroom fan to ventilate the room and reduce humidity.
